Recap: Richmond Red Devils vs. Madison Cubs

The Richmond Red Devils put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 54-49 win over Madison. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Madison is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richmond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braiden Hogg, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hogg has scored all season. Cedric Horton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Quincy Reynolds. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of ?scar Gonzalez, who scored six points.

Richmond pushed their record up to 16-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Madison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond will take on New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in New Palestine's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games. As for Madison, Madison and Rushville will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
