Softball Recap: Bardstown Drops Highest Score of Season Against Caverna

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bardstown). They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over the Caverna Colonels on Tuesday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Sophea Baker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Bardstown got a massive performance out of Molly Kisegy, who went 5-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Kisegy has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Claire Buzick, who went 3-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Bardstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Bardstown's record is now 3-7. As for Caverna, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Bardstown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Colonels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
