Recap: Lafayette vs. St. Pius X

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the St. Pius X Warriors' strategy against the Lafayette Fighting Irish on Thursday. St. Pius X took down Lafayette 42-24. That's another feather in the cap for the Warriors, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Sophomore Ashley Hall and junior Natalie Rippy were among the main playmakers for St. Pius X as the former had 12 points along with seven rebounds and the latter had 14 points along with five rebounds.

The victory -- their sixth in a row -- raised St. Pius X's record to 19-4. This is the second loss in a row for Lafayette and nudges their record down to 4-20.

St. Pius X and Cristo Rey Kansas City will go head to head on Monday in their first playoff matchup of the year. Kansas City took a loss in their last contest and are no doubt out to reverse St. Pius X's good fortune. As for the Fighting Irish, they will go up against Excelsior Springs on Monday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close contest.
