Baseball Game Preview: Northeastern Jets vs. Greeneview Rams

The Northeastern Jets will head out to face off against the Greeneview Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northeastern is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since April 20, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cedarville 5-4.

Meanwhile, Greeneview got the win against Greenon on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Rams have won six games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Max Penrod was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Penrod was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Reynolds, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Walker, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Greeneview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenon only posted an OBP of .292.

Northeastern is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Greeneview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Northeastern couldn't quite get it done against Greeneview when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Jets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
