Softball Recap: Buffalo Grove Has No Trouble Against Hoffman Estates

Buffalo Grove barely beat Hoffman Estates the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bison put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 13-0 win on Wednesday. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Bison this season.

Brooklyn Edler made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Buffalo Grove let Erin Ryan and Hayley Cohen run wild. Ryan fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4, while Cohen went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Cohen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Veller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Buffalo Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Buffalo Grove's record is now 8-10. As for Hoffman Estates, they are on an 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Looking ahead, Buffalo Grove is taking a road trip to face off against Schaumburg at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saxons have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Hoffman Estates, they will be playing at home against Palatine at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
