Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Hailey Pedregon and Sophia Ontiveros Lead Canutillo to Victory

Canutillo won the last time they faced Socorro and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Eagles blew past the Bulldogs 3-0. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Canutillo was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-13.

Canutillo was led to victory by Sophia Ontiveros and Hailey Pedregon. Ontiveros had five digs and five aces, while Pedregon had 15 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Ontiveros has posted over her last six games.

They weren't the only good server: Canutillo was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive contests.

Alyssa Almanza and Alyssa Del Hierro certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Almanza had 19 digs and one assist, while Del Hierro had eight blocks, five kills, and three digs. Almanza is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season.

Canutillo's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Socorro, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-4.

Canutillo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Montwood on the 21st. As for Socorro, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Parkland on the 21st.
