Softball Recap: Russell Takes a Loss

Russell extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They lost 14-0 to the Belgrade Panthers. The match marked the first time this year in which the Rustlers were not able to get on the board.

Myli Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and 13 unearned) runs on 14 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

As for Belgrade, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1-1. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Belgrade's side, Russell's batters probably weren't too happy with Olivia Mills, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up a single walk).

At the plate, Belgrade got a massive performance out of Carly Stephens, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits Stephens has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Teagan Bowler, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Russell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-6 defeat against Skyview on the 12th. As for Belgrade, they have also already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Great Falls on the 12th.
