Football Recap: Banquete Comes Up Short

Banquete extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were beaten by the George West Longhorns 71-6. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Longhorns from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

As for George West, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 51.1 points this season.

Kohen Blount produced another solid performance rushing for 147 yards and four TDs on only 12 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Coming up, Banquete will take on Monte Alto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Blue Devil's rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.86 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for George West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Rosa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 8.9 points per game this season, so the Longhorns' offense will have their work cut out for them.
