The Manti Templars will face off against the North Sanpete Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Manti knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully North Sanpete likes a good challenge.
Two weeks ago, Manti made easy work of Canyon View and carried off a 38-17 victory. With the Templars ahead 31-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Manti had a senior duo take command as Carter Mason threw for 435 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes and Stone Mortensen picked up 231 receiving yards and four TDs. With that strong performance, Mortensen is now averaging an impressive 103.2 receiving yards per game. Another player making a difference was Isaac Crowther, who rushed for 98 yards.
Manti didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mortensen.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and North Sanpete had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 30-14 win over Union on Friday. 30 seems to be a good number for the Hawks as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
North Sanpete had a senior duo take command as Maddox Madsen rushed for 25 yards and three scores and Ayden Akee rushed for 103 yards and one TD. Akee is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something North Sanpete proved: they limited Union to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Dalton Poulson for the heroic effort on defense: he. The dominant display was nothing new: North Sanpete has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive contests.
North Sanpete's defense didn't let Gannon Labrum, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Wyatt Hobush was especially locked on to Union's QB and sacked him three times.
Manti's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for North Sanpete, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Manti has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 269.8 passing yards per game. It's a different story for North Sanpete, though, as they've been averaging only 104.3 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Everything went Manti's way against North Sanpete when the teams last played on October 3rd, as Manti made off with a 35-14 win. Do the Templars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
