Softball Game Preview: Centralia Orphans vs. East St. Louis Flyers

The Centralia Orphans will square off against the East St. Louis Flyers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Centralia has three straight victories, East St. Louis has 19 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Seven must be Centralia's lucky number: they beat Mattoon with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Orphans blew past the Greenwave 7-1. Considering the Orphans have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, East St. Louis fell victim to Triad and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 16-0.

Centralia pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for East St. Louis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-19.
