Softball Game Preview: Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes vs. Oakwood Comets

Georgetown-Ridge Farm has gone 9-1 against Oakwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes will look to defend their home field against the Oakwood Comets at 11:00 a.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

After dropping their season opener at home, Oakwood is headed out to face a Buffaloes team ready to give their home crowd a win. Georgetown-Ridge Farm lost 13-5 to Arcola on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 15 in a row.

Chloe Stephenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Georgetown-Ridge Farm saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annistyn Tovey, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Oakwood fell victim to LeRoy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm couldn't quite get it done against Oakwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can Georgetown-Ridge Farm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
