Father Judge extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 8-4 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Devon Prep Tide. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tide, too.
Kaiden Laverty looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Father Judge let Kevin Krause and Nick Wolf run wild. Krause went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Wolf went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Wolf has posted since back in March. Ryan King was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
As for Devon Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.2 runs.
On Devon Prep's side, Chase Lubker put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lubker has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Alex Hannah was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Samms, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Father Judge will challenge rival Archbishop Ryan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Devon Prep is set to take on their familiar foe Conwell-Egan Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
