Basketball Recap: Pacific Comes Up Short

Pacific saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a blow against the Hillcrest Trojans, falling 71-23. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1261st, while the Trojans are ranked 244th).

Despite the loss, Pacific had strong showings from Francisco Garcia, who posted 11 points, and Maurice Fitzgerald, who earned six points and 12 rebounds. Fitzgerald is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last ten games he's played.

Pacific's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Hillcrest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.

Pacific wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-46 loss against Redlands on the 27th. As for Hillcrest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-45 win against Kaiser on the 27th.
