Softball Recap: Union Grove Christian Gets the Win

Union Grove Christian proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 14) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Calvary Christian Cougar, sneaking past 3-2. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougar, too.

Morgan Donovant made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Isabella Lott was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Union Grove Christian's record now sits at 8-3. As for Calvary Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Union Grove Christian beat the Cougar by a score of 2-1 later that day.
