Basketball Game Preview: Calvin Bulldogs vs. Butner Eagles

The Calvin Bulldogs will face off against the Butner Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Calvin will be strutting in after a victory while Butner will be coming in after a defeat.

Butner is hoping to do what Bowlegs couldn't back in December of 2024: put an end to Calvin's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Calvin pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over Bowlegs. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-14, which was the final score in Butner's tilt against Dewar on Monday. The Eagles have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Calvin's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Butner, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Everything went Calvin's way against Butner in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Calvin made off with a 36-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calvin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
