Basketball Recap: Karmello Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Browne over Skyline

If Browne was feeling good fresh off their 69-49 takedown of Kofa last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Browne Bruins took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Skyline Coyotes on Tuesday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Coyotes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karmello Walker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Walker has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Chaffin, who posted seven points along with seven boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Browne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Skyline's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Bowens, who went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bowens a new career-high in points. Tage Flodstrom was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

The loss snapped Browne's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-10 record. As for Skyline, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.

Browne didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-42 defeat against Camelback on the 17th. As for Skyline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 44-32 loss against Red Mountain on the 17th.
