Basketball Game Preview: Forge Christian Fury vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars

The Forge Christian Fury will square off against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Forge Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Forge Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Denver Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Forge Christian was dealt a 57-24 defeat at the hands of Denver Christian. While losing is never fun, the Fury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Thunder are ranked 36th).

Finley Queen was Forge Christian's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Aleeza Olson held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of University. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Forge Christian will have to keep a close watch on Olivia Klein and Callie Gillespie, a pair of players who had a big impact on Resurrection Christian's prior game. Klein posted 14 points, while Gillespie earned 11 points. That was a full 36.8% of Resurrection Christian's points, marking the third time in a row Klein has had more than a third of the team's points.

Resurrection Christian's loss dropped their record down to 21-2. As for Forge Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

Forge Christian took a serious blow against Resurrection Christian in their previous matchup back in February, falling 54-25. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Forge Christian was down 33-8.
