League recap: Moorpark tops Royal to extend winning streak

Marmonte - West recap Oct. 23, 2012

Moorpark extended the longest winning streak in Marmonte - West this week by beating Royal, 35-10. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Calabasas moved up to 508 from 546 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Coyotes climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Oaks Christian 47-21.

Thousand Oaks's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Clark Abourisk threw for 126 yards and Case Cookus had 65 yards receiving. On the ground Nathan Debeikes chipped in 283 yards. Liam Gerety helped Thousand Oaks' passing attack out by catching three balls for 25 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Abourisk and Debeikes the Lancers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Abourisk leads the league in passing with 1973 yards, while Debeikes has rushed for 847 yards this season. The Lions' Francis Owusu leads the league in receiving yards with 627 on 35 catches.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Oaks Christian takes on second place Moorpark. Oaks Christian defeated Calabasas last week, while Moorpark topped the Highlanders.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Jeff Woodruff 's team takes on the Musketeers. The Lions have allowed 100 points this season, while Moorpark has given up 112. Oaks Christian allowed 21 points last week as it defeated the Coyotes.

The Lions took down Calabasas 47-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
