Basketball Recap: Valley Forge Comes Up Short

Valley Forge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 31st straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Beachwood Bison.

When it comes to explaining why Valley Forge lost, don't look at Gracie Kercher. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Kercher a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jada Plum, who put up eight points.

Beachwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zo? Walters, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walters has scored at least a third of Beachwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Goldi Aschkenasy, who had eight points in addition to ten boards and four blocks.

Valley Forge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Beachwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Valley Forge will square off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on February 19th. One thing working in Washington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Beachwood, they have already played their next match, a 57-27 loss against Chippewa on the 15th.
