Softball Recap: Vandegrift Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Vandegrift ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the McCallum Knights 16-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vipers have posted since February 15, 2025.

Vandegrift got a massive performance out of Ava Love, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and one double. Hannah Farrell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two triples, two stolen bases, and five RBI.

The win got Vandegrift back to even at 1-1. As for McCallum, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Vandegrift and McCallum will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Vipers will face off against rival Round Rock at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. Meanwhile, McCallum is set to challenge their familiar foe Cedar Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
