Football Game Recap: Smithfield vs. New Kent

Smithfield had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it on Friday as the team lost 22-23 to New Kent. Things were expected to be close, but in this case the state rankings mixed up the winning team.

Smithfield's defeat pushes them down to 3-4. The win bumped New Kent's record up to 5-3.

It's more conference action for Smithfield and New Kent in their upcoming matches. Smithfield will stay at home next week against Poquoson at 7:00 PM. Smithfield's defense better steel itself: Poquoson are averaging 38.57 points per game. New Kent will take on York at home at 7:00 PM. Unlike New Kent, York will be limping in after taking a loss.
