Baseball Recap: Hesperia Takes a Loss

Hesperia extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Mason County Central Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Tuesday.

As for Mason County Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.

For Mason County Central's part, Pierce Bladzik made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Bladzik was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake McKay, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Toby Reed was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hesperia will head out to take on Lakeview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mason County Central, they will venture away from home to challenge North Muskegon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
