Recap: McIntosh Demons vs. Jackson Aggies
It was a good run, but the McIntosh Demons unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Jackson by a score of 67-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss McIntosh has suffered yet this season.
When it comes to explaining why McIntosh lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brittney Reed Jr.. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Reed Jr. has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dristen Sullivan, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, McIntosh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micah Caster, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Caster is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Keeyun Chapman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
McIntosh's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3. As for Jackson, their win was their 23rd straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McIntosh will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Leroy at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Leroy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. As for Jackson, they will head out on the road to face off against Citronelle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Citronelle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Jackson is ranked 69th).
