Softball Recap: Ninety Six Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Ninety Six proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Pelion Panthers 9-7. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Jocelyn Coleman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Katie Allen also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Ninety Six pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Pelion, they moved to 10-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ninety Six will head out to face off against Batesburg-Leesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Pelion, they will venture away from home to challenge Saluda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
