Baseball Recap: Onaga's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Onaga easily dispatched Centralia last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Buffaloes fell just short of the Frankfort Wildcats by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Buffaloes have suffered since March 18, 2024.

Onaga saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Casen Hutfles, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Hutfles also brought in three RBI, which is notable because the Buffaloes are 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-4 otherwise. Tristan Kuhlman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Onaga moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Frankfort, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wildcats beat Onaga by a score of 5-3 later that day.
