Softball Game Preview: Frankston Indians vs. Kerens Bobcats

The Frankston Indians will square off against the Kerens Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frankston will be strutting in after a win while Kerens will be coming in after a defeat.

Frankston barely beat LaPoynor the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Frankston was the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over LaPoynor on Friday. Considering the Indians have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bobcats on Tuesday. Kerens fell just short of Cross Roads by a score of 8-7. Kerens has struggled against Cross Roads recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Kayla Gonzales was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Brooke Sikes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Kerens hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory made it two in a row for Frankston and bumps their season record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kerens, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1.

Frankston came out on top in a nail-biter against Kerens in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Does Frankston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kerens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
