Basketball Recap: Surry HomeSchool Comes Up Short

Surry HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors. While the Runnin' Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 9-5 in the first quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Asheboro Hybrid Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily West, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Autumn Voncannon, who had seven points.

Surry HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Surry HomeSchool and Calvary Christian will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Calvary Christian will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Surry HomeSchool surely won't give up without a fight. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Davidson at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
