Recap: Jennings County Panthers vs. Greenwood Woodmen
Make it 11 blowout wins for the Jennings County Panthers this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Greenwood 65-11 at home. Given Jennings County's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Greenwood is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jennings County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mollie Ernstes led the charge by scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Ernstes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Juliann Woodard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Jennings County and bumps their season record up to 17-3. As for Greenwood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jennings County will take on Columbus East at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus East is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Greenwood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eastern Greene at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th.
