Basketball Recap: Brittney Bass' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Albemarle School over Pungo Christian Academy

Albemarle School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders. The Colts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 51-46.

Albemarle School lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brittney Bass, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Bass has posted since back in November of 2023. Addison Delosreyes was another key player, putting up 17 points along with eight boards and three steals.

It was another big night for Allison Sawyer, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 22 rebounds for Pungo Christian Academy. The match was Sawyer's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Rouse, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Albemarle School's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Pungo Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13.

Albemarle School has already played their next contest (against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pungo Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 58-51 defeat against Lawrence Academy on the 29th.
