Recap: Justin-Siena Braves vs. Sonoma Valley Dragons
The Justin-Siena Braves won the last time they faced the Sonoma Valley Dragons, and things went their way on Friday too. Justin-Siena sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 victory over Sonoma Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Justin-Siena.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Justin-Siena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Sangiacomo, who threw for 311 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Thomas Malloy was another key contributor, gaining 178 total yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Sonoma Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trent Ohman. Despite the final result, he threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns. Ohman hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Harrison, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Justin-Siena's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Sonoma Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Justin-Siena will head out on the road to face off against American Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. American Canyon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Justin-Siena in California (American Canyon is ranked 275th, while Justin-Siena is ranked 598th). As for Sonoma Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. Casa Grande is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
