Basketball Game Preview: Waukegan Bulldogs vs. Shepard Astros

The Waukegan Bulldogs will take on the Shepard Astros in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Waukegan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Waukegan will head into Monday's game on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Kennedy on Monday. Waukegan blew past Kennedy 85-25. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Crusaders are ranked 597th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shepard). They blew past St. Edward 83-62 on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Astros as they're now sitting on three straight.

Shepard's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Waukegan, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Waukegan came up short against Shepard in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 70-66. Can Waukegan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
