Recap: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Elmwood Trojans

If the Astoria/VIT Rebels were feeling good off their 68-22 takedown of the Midwest Central Raiders last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Astoria/VIT took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Astoria/VIT in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Astoria/VIT still got an impressive performance from Kaden Foglesong, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foglesong has scored all season. Nic Huston was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.

Astoria/VIT has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Elmwood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Rushville-Industry is ranked 586th, while the Rebels are ranked 593rd). Elmwood will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Lewistown is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
