Recap: Assumption Mustangs vs. Lutcher Bulldogs
The Assumption Mustangs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 14-7 win over Lutcher. For Assumption, this counts as revenge for the 21-13 defeat Lutcher walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trenton Chaney, who gained 156 total yards.
Assumption's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points per game. As for Lutcher, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Assumption will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vandebilt Catholic at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Vandebilt Catholic is ranked 77th, while Assumption is ranked 64th). As for Lutcher, they will head out on the road to face off against Morgan City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morgan City is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
