Baseball Recap: Hagen Haefs and Brock Macdonald Secure Win for Desert Vista

Desert Vista hadn't done well against O'Connor recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Thunder never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. For the Thunder, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Brock MacDonald and Hagen Haefs dominated on the mound. MacDonald didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched, while Haefs pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hudson Droz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Noah Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Desert Vista's record now sits at 17-9. As for O'Connor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-10 record this season.

Desert Vista will take on Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Thunder are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a six-game losing streak. O'Connor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
