Basketball Recap: Catawba Ridge Copperheads vs. Lancaster Bruins
The Catawba Ridge Copperheads had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.6 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They walked away with a 66-56 victory over Lancaster. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Catawba Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quh'Mareon Webb, who scored 13 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Barnes, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Catawba Ridge pushed their record up to 21-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Lancaster, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.
Catawba Ridge will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Indian Land focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Lancaster, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. York has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
