Baseball Recap: Riverside Beavers vs. Kenston Bombers
Riverside lost against Kenston back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Beavers fell just short of the Bombers by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Beavers have lost by just one run.
Austin Wittreich and Spencer Short did some serious damage despite the final result: Wittreich scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Short scored a run while going 3-for-4. Short also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Austin Kalb, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Riverside's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Kenston, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
