Basketball Recap: Merrol Hyde Magnet Falls Despite Big Games from Bennett Altepeter and Pierce Cook

Merrol Hyde Magnet lost against Liberty Creek back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hawks fell 48-44 to the Wolves. The loss put an end to the Hawks' undefeated start to the season.

Merrol Hyde Magnet's loss came despite strong showings from Pierce Cook and Bennett Altepeter. Cook posted 12 points, while Altepeter scored 17 points and six rebounds. Cook has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 55% every time he's hit the court this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Merrol Hyde Magnet fell to 2-1. As for Liberty Creek, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Merrol Hyde Magnet will challenge Donelson Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty Creek, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Friendship Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
