Softball Recap: Deerfield Takes a Loss

Deerfield had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 7-7 to make it four. They fell 6-1 to the Mineral Point Pointers. The Demons were not able to make up for their loss to the Pointers from their previous meeting back in June of 2025.

Addi Haas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Deerfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Kind, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Mineral Point, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

On Mineral Point's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Tenleigh Bockhop gave up only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Bockhop has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austyn Kinch, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. Jadyn Schultz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Deerfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 9-7 victory against Williams Bay on the 4th. As for Mineral Point, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-0 win against Southwestern on the 4th.
