Baseball Recap: Hazen Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hazen and Bellevue meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Highlanders fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 12-10. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-10 defeat last Wednesday.

Hazen's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Bellevue, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazen will head out to square off against Bothell at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Highlanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bellevue, they will venture away from home to challenge Redmond at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Wolverines' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
