Basketball Recap: Donovan Wildcats vs. Kankakee Trinity Academy
Donovan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt an 82-50 defeat at the hands of Kankakee Trinity Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered against Kankakee Trinity Academy since December 21, 2018.
Despite the defeat, Donovan had strong showings from Jacob Onnen, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and five rebounds, and Preston Harrington-Dewitt, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Tiffany, who put up ten points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Donovan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kankakee Trinity Academy only pulled down one offensive board.
Kankakee Trinity Academy was led to victory by Akira Hori and Vinny Hendrix. Hori went 12 of 22 on his way to 35 points along with seven steals and five assists, while Hendrix almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hori has scored at least a third of Kankakee Trinity Academy's points.
Donovan's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.
Donovan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-28 defeat against Milford on the 16th. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-57 loss against Iroquois West on the 16th.
