Recap: Dan River Wildcats vs. Altavista Colonels

This season hasn't been kind to the Dan River Wildcats, who are still winless after their 11th game. They were outmatched by Altavista at home and fell 57-24. Dan River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Altavista apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Madysen Tillman and Akeelah Scott certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Tillman scored two points along with eight rebounds, while Scott scored four points. That's the first time this season that Tillman pulled down eight or more rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dan River were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Dan River bumped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Altavista, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dan River will take on Tunstall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Tunstall is ranked 382nd, while Dan River is ranked 402nd). Altavista will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Gretna at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th.
