Basketball Recap: Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Falls Despite Big Games from Gabriel Reyes and Jeffery Patton

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chicago Washington Patriots. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Jeffery Patton and Gabriel Reyes certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Patton went 9-for-14 en route to 23 points and eight boards, while Reyes posted 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Reyes a new career-high in points.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Chicago Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.

Coming up, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech will take on Tri-Township at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech is facing Tri-Township at the right time seeing as Tri-Township is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
