Basketball Recap: Beck Arrendondo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverside-Durham over Orange

Riverside-Durham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orange Panthers. The Pirates lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 55-21 score last time.

Riverside-Durham lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Beck Arrendondo, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Au'Nehstii Hagans, who had nine points.

Orange's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalie Roberson led the charge by putting up six points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Roberson a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Kassidy Tolliver, who put up ten points along with seven boards and three steals.

Riverside-Durham's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Riverside-Durham has already played their next game, a 59-18 defeat against Heritage on the 22nd. As for Orange, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Person at 6:00 p.m. on the 3rd.
