Basketball Game Preview: High Plains Storm vs. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles

High Plains is 1-9 against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The High Plains Storm will host the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles at 6:00 p.m. High Plains will be strutting in after a win while Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will be coming in after a defeat.

High Plains took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Osceola with a sharp 62-37 victory. The Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season.

Peyton Hofmann and Emma Brown were among the main playmakers for High Plains as the former went 6-for-11 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven steals and five assists and the latter dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Courtney Carlstrom, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Bruning-Davenport/Shickley came up short against Meridian on Tuesday and fell 32-21. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley now has a losing record of 11-12. As for High Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

High Plains barely slipped by Bruning-Davenport/Shickley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 38-37. Does High Plains have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bruning-Davenport/Shickley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
