Two dominant backs in Jayden Simmons and Jaylee Abraham are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Flowing Wells Caballeros will take on the Desert View Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Flowing Wells' defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 43-0 victory over Sunnyside. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Caballeros just coasted through the last quarter.

Flowing Wells' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Benicio Ruiz, who threw for 99 yards and three touchdowns, and Alfredo Guzman, who rushed for 88 yards and one score on only nine carries. The dominant performance also gave Ruiz a new career-high in passer rating (177.1).
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Flowing Wells was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 321 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 222 rushing yards in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Flowing Wells' defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Sunnyside's side was Marcus Devoy, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Desert View faced off against Cienega on Friday. The Jaguars claimed a resounding 70-35 win over the Bobcats. The victory was just business as usual for the Jaguars, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Flowing Wells better keep an eye on Ryan Vasavilbaso. He was instrumental in Desert View's win, throwing for 329 yards and five TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. Vasavilbaso has been hot recently, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Flowing Wells' record is now 7-2. As for Desert View, their record now sits at 9-0.
Flowing Wells lost to Desert View on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Thankfully for the Caballeros, Sean Sierra (who rushed for 145 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
