Softball Recap: Cocoa Beach Comes Up Short

Cocoa Beach entered their game against Rockledge on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cocoa Beach Minutemen fell just short of the Rockledge Raiders by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Minutemen have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Ryleigh Hattrup was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Cocoa Beach and nudges their season record down to 4-4-1. As for Rockledge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cocoa Beach will take on Titusville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Cocoa Beach is facing Titusville at the right time seeing as Titusville is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rockledge, they will square off against Melbourne Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne Central Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Rockledge surely won't give up without a fight.
