Volleyball Recap: Southwest Takes a Loss

After flying high against Varela on Monday, Southwest came back down to earth. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Doral Academy Firebirds on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled against the Firebirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-17.

Sarah Lewis paced Southwest's offense, picking up eight kills. Lewis got some help from Isabela Perez and her ten assists. Victoria Soto and Emily Lopez kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Doral Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Southwest has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Palmetto on the 26th. As for Doral Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Florida Christian on the 30th.
