Softball Recap: Grant Park Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Grant Park hadn't done well against Clifton Central recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Dragons never let the Comets get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. This was payback for the Dragons, who suffered an 11-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cheyenne Hayes made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Hayes wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adelyn Karstensen, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

With the win, Grant Park broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-8. As for Clifton Central, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-12-1.

Grant Park will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
