Basketball Recap: Calvary Academy Takes a Loss

Calvary Academy and The Pilgrim Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Calvary Academy had to settle for second. They were beaten by The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers 78-45. The Warrior have struggled against the Pioneers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Several Warrior players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Troy, who posted 23 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Troy a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieran Riccobono, who earned 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Calvary Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Mason Parmer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 19 boards for The Pilgrim Academy. Parmer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Luke McGonagle was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points.

Calvary Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for The Pilgrim Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

Calvary Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 36-28 defeat against Solid Rock Christian School on the 28th. As for The Pilgrim Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 71-39 loss against Atlantic Christian on the 27th.
