Softball Recap: Cheshire Academy Finds Home Field Redemption Against Greens Farms Academy

There's no place like home for Cheshire Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against the Greens Farms Academy Dragons by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday.

E Dibennedetto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Dibennedetto was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, A Sutera and O Watson did most of the damage at the plate: Sutera went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Watson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was K Durkin, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cheshire Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Greens Farms Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheshire Academy will welcome Hamden at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cats are facing the Green Dragons at the right time seeing as the Green Dragons are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Greens Farms Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Austin Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
